Calypso Rose grew up in a small village on the island of Tobago, and began her songwriting career at the age of 15. Over the span of a prestigious career performing calypso and soca music, she has composed more than 800 songs and released over 20 albums. She toured with Bob Marley and the Wailers in the 1970s. In 2017, she was awarded the “World Music Album of the Year” at the French music awards ceremony, Le Victoires de la Musique for her album, Far From Home.
Based in Toronto, founded and fronted by émigré Trinidadian songwriter Drew Gonsalves, the JUNO-nominated group, Kobo Town, has brought their distinct calypso-inspired sound to audiences across the world, from Port-of-Spain to Paris and from Montreal to Malaysia.
