features over 100 dancers, vocalists and guitarists direct from Spain
in a mesmerizing display ranging from flamenco puro to contemporary
innovations. The festival is dedicated to the vitality of the flamenco
arts of Andalusía, the birthplace of flamenco. In addition to the
concerts of music and dance, New Yorkers will be exposed to the many facets

Sat Feb 3 8 PM US debut Town Hall A superstar in Spain, vocalist Estrella Morente has dazzled audiences and critics alike with her compelling performances of flamenco and popular Spanish songs in the Andalusian tradition. Daughter of the famed singer Enrique Morente and dancer Aurora Carbonell, she is a passionate new voice in flamenco who brings a fresh approach to this revered tradition. A master of all the traditional forms of flamenco, as well as an innovator, he is known for his emotional fervor and intensity. He has received numerous prizes and awards since the age of 15, made recordings with guitarist Vicente Amigo, and shared the stage with Camarón de la Isla. In this, his first US appearance, he will be joined by the brilliant dancer Edu Lozano, who recently appeared as a guest artist with Eva Yerbabuena at the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla. 24 8 PM US debut + pre-concert talk at 7 PM: Flamenco Dance NYU Skirball Center This celebration of the flamenco arts native to Málaga features more than 20 of the regions most outstanding musicians and dancers, including the evocative singer Rocío Bazán and the popular Panda de Verdiales. The program, under the direction of poet José Luis Ortiz Nuevo, showcases a wide array of styles ranging from folkloric to deep and powerful old forms.
