Join world-renowned Grammy Award-nominated composer and sitarist Anoushka Shankar in an intimate conversation with her friend and fellow Indian Grammy Award-nominated musician Priya Darshini. Anoushka will share music and stories about her career and her instrument and will talk about continuing her family’s musical legacy, not only as a musician but also as a humanitarian and activist. Anoushka has recorded and released over 15 albums as a solo artist in addition to the collaborations with her late father, sitar master Ravi Shankar. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session with attendees posting their questions electronically for live answers.

Anoushka Shankar is Grammy Award-nominated recording artist, composer and musician. She first began learning sitar from her famed father Ravi Shankar at a very young age. She is also an accomplished pianist and singer. Anoushka has recorded and released over 15 albums as a solo artist or in collaboration with her father. Anoushka has collaborated with an incredible wide range of artists such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Josh Bell, Sting, Herbie Hancock, Lenny Kravitz, Karsh Kale, Thievery Corporation, Rodrigo y Gabriela and of course her half-sister Norah Jones as just a small example of diversity in her choosings. On Shankar’s most recent album, ‘Love Letters’, Anoushka leads collaborations with French-Cuban singers Ibeyi and Turkish/German composer and musician, Alev Lenz with her most personal recording to date.

Priya Darshini is a Chennai born, Bombay raised Indian singer, voiceover artist, composer, actress, athlete, and entrepreneur living in Brooklyn, NY, USA. Additionally, Priya is on the board of Jana Rakshita, a Mumbai-based NGO that works with underserved pediatric cancer patients, and building education facilities for Adivasi and other marginalized communities in India.
