March in NYC brings the celebration of the best of Irish culture and this special WMI presentation is no exception. Irish-American Grammy Award winner Eileen Ivers was a touring musician with Mick Moloney’s Green Fields of America and nine-time All Ireland Fiddle Champion, a founding member of Cherish the Ladies and former star of Riverdance. The New York Times hails Eileen “the Jimi Hendrix of the violin” and The LA Times proclaims “Ivers’ presentation was music with the kind of life and spirit that come together when talented artists from different backgrounds find the linkages that connect all forms of music…no wonder the audience loved every minute.” . She will be joined by her band UnIVERSal Roots who are connecting Celtic and American roots music from bluegrass to country, and French-Canadian to cajun.

UnIVERSal Roots:

Buddy Connolly – accordion, whistles, keyboards | Matt Mancuso – guitar, trumpet, fiddle, vocals | Lindsey Horner – upright bass, electric bass, baritone sax | Dave Barckow – percussion, guitar, vocals

The ORIGINS series features artists who delve into the folklore and roots of their respective culture’s music to tell the story of their origins, preserving and affirming cultural identities and legacies.
