WMI Plus At Home - Israel Fernández w/ Ned Sublette
WMI PLUS At Home experiences bring music from around the world into the comfort of your home. Renowned artists share their lives, instruments, and stories from their personal environments, bringing an intimacy and uniqueness to each event. These talks are led by fellow musicians, journalists, and ethnomusicologists. Live captioning will be provided during the event.
We are thrilled to provide these events for FREE. If you are able to make a donation of any amount while registering for this event, it will help us to keep the music playing. THANK YOU!

Israel Fernández is one of the most celebrated young flamenco performers in Spain today; a powerful singer, renowned for infusing the genre with his own flair. Born into a Roma family in Toledo, Spain, Fernández made his recording debut in 2008 at the age of 18. He has released five albums including Amor, nominated for a Latin Grammy Award in 2020 for Best Flamenco Album, and his most recent project Pura Sangre, also nominated for Best Flamenco Album at the 2023 Latin Grammy Awards. El País has declared him “the voice that sings the present and the future of flamenco”. He will be joined by award-winning music writer and author Ned Sublette. The conversation will be conducted in both Spanish and English.
WMI Plus At Home experiences are supported by a grant from Con Edison.
